New Zealand Adventure Gear Racing Around the World |

International multisporters don’t only go all the way to New Zealand for adventure racing challenges. They also look to Kiwi ingenuity for exceptional AR gear.
Top teams competing in the 2005 ARWC will be relying on New Zealand designs from industry icon Macpac, such as Interwool bodywear, the 35 Amp racing pack and Epic 150SF sleeping bag.
All athletes involved in the event will be racing in Macpac’s Interwool; its groundbreaking technology regulates temperature, manages moisture and is highly durable. It’s ideal for adapting to different activities and changing conditions. In addition, a number of leading teams will be using Amp racing packs, including teams from Sweden, Spain, Germany, Japan and several from New Zealand.
Two of North America’s leading multisport publications paid Macpac’s 35 Amp the ultimate compliments; in Adventure Sports’ May edition, "One tester commented that this pack was ‘reflective of Kiwi smarts in just putting together what is necessary for a good pack.’"
According to Hooked on the Outdoors (August 2005), "The fact that Macpac built the Amp 35, a 2,140-cubic-inch pack, at 2 pounds, 5 ounces is impressive. That they included features found on packs twice its weight is almost wrong . . . The only problem with the Amp is that your overloaded partners will constantly try to steal your pack."
Adventure Sports’ trusted "Top 25" named the "coolest, most innovative pieces of gear" for 2005, singling out the most outstanding product in each category. Among sleeping bags, they rated Macpac’s Epic 150SF, a growing favourite among adventure racers.
Macpac’s gear and clothing designs are inspired by New Zealand’s own extremes, in climate and landscape. Since 1973, the Kiwi company has established itself as an outdoor industry leader; most recently, it has been attracting attention around the world for its innovative adventure sport gear.
